Kino on the Planet

Kino on the Planet

The conclusion to the season premier of Stargate Universe was a good one. The third part starts just after rush Steps through the event horizon at the end of the last episode and it opens with a vast desert, and the arrival of the team.

There is not that much that happens in the episode but the way that it has been put together makes it feel although there is, the A story is the team on the planet looking for Lime (Calcium Carbonate) and there isn’t really much of a B story.

Colonel Telford

Colonel Telford

So on the Planet they are working there way across and checking the sand looking for the Lime, and after a while they split into 2 teams one lead by Eli and the other lead by Scott and around this time on the Destiny Young and Chloe use the communication stones to contact earth, this is the 1st time the Colonel Telford is on the Destiny and he is not doing Young’s body any good. Chloe uses this opportunity to tell her Mother what happened to her father.

We learn about Scott’s past in this episode, we learn that he is a religious person and that his parents were killed and he was raised by a Priest who drunk himself to death. On the planet after Rush and Greer head back to the gate Scott starts to Hallucinate the priest and when he passes out he is saved by some form of life that appears to be spiralling wind carrying sand.and where he had collapsed was the lake bed where the Lime is.

Sand Entity (for lack of a better word)

Sand Entity (for lack of a better word)

Greer goes back to get Scott and there is not allot of time left before the Destiny leaves and with Minutes to spair Rush instructs Eli to place his arm inside the event horizon of the Stargate and this allofs Scott and Greer to get back in time.

They manage to get the Life-support working in time and the choice of music was interesting and appropriate as the song was called “Breathe”.

It ends with something leaving the ship and that raises many questions like what is it? where is it going? who is it going to?are they in danger?

This episode was a good conclusion to the three parter as it adds more depth to to the characters as there is not allot of action in this part but has set up the starting of what appears to be an amazing series.
